    penrith in cumbria A visit to Penrith is like a trip down memory lane. A wonderful un-touristy market town in Northern Cumbria.

    With high street shops such as WHSmiths and Boots tucked away down little ginnels rather than taking over the high street, the town has managed to retain lots of character.

    A superb delicatessen takes pride of place off the market square and Cranstons Food Store is just on the edge of town.
