It is easy to see why The Mill Race received the Visit Britain Gold Award. This former mill has been lovingly transformed into elegant living quarters over three floors. Note that the sitting out area is a balcony over looking a pretty stream - which is also accessible via a steep bank - please do supervise any children in your party.

Fabulously turned out property with a stunning view, a wood burner and it welcomes dogs! How can we top that? There is even a yellow plastic duck on the end of the bath for the kids in your party and a large Lake District map on the wall to help you plan your stay.

Brandelhow apartment is a first floor apartment in a former hotel. The benefits of this include a lift to the first floor in addition to good sized bedrooms. The Theatre by the Lake is an easy 10 min stroll from the apartment and of course its central location is perfect if you wish to walk right from the door over one of the nearby fells.

It is impossible to do full justice to the high quality finishing in Tommy's cottage with such a short entry here. The bathrooms are 5* hotel standard and the dining room furniture is made from beautiful French oak. One of the twin bedrooms is on the ground floor - ideal for those with mobility problems.

On the main road but with an enclosed rear garden, Glen Holm allows one well behaved pet and has a superb kitchen and lovely bright conservatory. Previous guests have commented on the comfy beds, why not read their reviews for yourself here.
If you are looking for tradition and luxury in the Lake District then Mary's Cottage has a lot to offer. In a quiet location yet very close to the town centre, the cottage is immaculate and larger than it may first appear. It is rare to find such high standard furnishings. We love how well the space has been utilised. The kitchen is on the lower ground floor and two of the bedrooms are en suite, with the third adjoining the family bathroom.

George Cottage is a lovely end of terrace cottage in a great location for you to walk into Keswick or down to Derwent Water. There is so much on offer in Keswick and we love the fact that once you are here, you can go green and get about quite easily without need of your car.

Darwin Cottage is just so handy for exploring the lovely market town of Keswick. Just a few minutes walk will have you in the town centre and it is also within a very easy walk of Derwent Water and the lovely Theatre by the Lake. Walkers will love that many routes can be started from the door of the cottage.

This terrace cottage really took our eye. It is always nice to find a property with a wood burning stove that will accept dogs. Beagle Cottage sleeps two, though you can take extra bedding and make use of the sofa bed.

Where do we start - if you are looking for a cottage that is absolutely oozing with character, we are talking slate floors and oak beams, cast iron range and a working open coal fire, then Grange Cottage just has to be on your short list.
The property is all on ground level and has its own private garden with two terraces and seating, though I'm not sure they can guarantee the photogenic sheep!

Brandelhow is all about the views. From the front you look out over Skiddaw and Latrigg and the rear garden has views to Causey Pike, Grisedale Pike and Catbells.

Croft Head is just a mile out of Keswick in a small hamlet, giving you spectacular views and opportunities to walk right from the farmhouse door. There's a garage if you wish to store canoes and bikes and a full size snooker table for days when the weather is bad or for great evenings in. The lounge is on the first floor to make the most of the views and we loved the belfast sink in the big farmhouse kitchen.
