Coiled Cumberland Sausages are surely one of Lakeland's most popular dishes. March 2011 saw a major break through for Cumbrian butchers, with the Cumberland Sausage being awarded 'protected status' ensuring that it can now only be made in Cumbria.

Now in its third year at Muncaster Castle, the May Bank Holiday weekend is a fantastic opportunity to sample Cumbria's finest sausages! Live music and entertainment together with celebrity chef demos and plenty of opportunities to eat, drink and buy local produce make this a very exciting event.

Woodland Free Range - Broughton-in-Furness 'I was 5½ and standing on an orange box', says Gary, 'when I made my first Cumberland Sausage'. 'Some of the sausages would be linked and some would be sold by the yard'.

Woodland Free Range farm have over 60 years of family experience in making Cumberland Sausages. Gary, formerly a chef, is now realising his dream by providing good quality products, with skills he learnt from his father and Grandfather McClure. His pigs enjoy Free-Range of his 13 acre Farm.
