Defining Luxury - What does it mean to you?

The choice of Luxury Hotels in the Lake District is huge and can be quite mind boggling! So, before you start planning your Luxury in the Lake District break, why not take a moment to think about what you really want from your luxury break. Do any of these make it onto your luxury list?
  • Time
  • Privacy
  • Being Pampered
  • Gourmet Dinners
  • Stunning Views from your accommodation
  • Spa treatments
  • Four Poster Bed
  • Jacuzzi en-suite bathroom
  • Remote cottage away from the bustle of life

Everyone is different when they quantify Luxury. What matters is what Luxury means for you. If your idea of luxury is time to soak in the beautiful scenery and time to walk the fells without a soul in sight, then you don't want to end up paying hotel overheads for facilities you aren't going to use.

If you are really looking forward to having breakfast in a dining room overlooking one of the magnificent Lakes prior to a spa treatment, then you don't need to spend time looking for accommodation within easy access of your chosen walk.

Choosing Luxury Hotels in the Lake District

What to look for when choosing a Lake District Luxury Hotel.

  • Does it meet all the criteria on your personal 'luxury' list?

  • Go to the Hotel website and check the bedroom and dining room photographs. Do you feel comfortable with the decoration. Does it look dated or too modern for your tastes.

  • Look what special mid-week and out of season offers are available. You may find that by travelling a day or two earlier or later you could get a great deal or a free bottle of champagne.

  • Read the hotel specifications carefully. The chances are that you will end up paying Hotel overheads for facilities, even if you don't use them. Beware of the term 'most of our rooms'. You are interested in the room that you book. It is of no interest to you if half the rooms have a Lake view, if yours overlooks the recycle point.

    Luxury on a Budget

Whatever your budget it is possible to add a touch of Luxury to your Lake District break.

  • Luxury Hamper - Create your own hamper to jazz up your camping or self-catering trip. Pack it brim full with all those items that are a luxury to you, it doesn't have to just be food, what about a favourite magazine too, you are on holiday and have the luxury of time to read. You will have as much fun preparing it as presenting it.

    Deciding where to go

Do you already have a favourite part of the Lakes? If not why not have a look at all the fabulous Lakes there are in Cumbria. Each has its own magic.
